Qualification Delivery

This qualification can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Entry Requirements

An individual undertaking this qualification with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • Satisfactorily complete a language, numeracy and literacy assessment prior to or on course commencement to assess capacity to meet the LLN requirements of this course
  • Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills 
  • Participants must be clean-shaven for the operation of breathing apparatus equipment
  • Protective slip-resistant footwear/safety shoes must be provided by the student and worn during the practical sessions and assessment 


PLEASE NOTE: PUAFIR210 Prevent injury is a pre-requisite unit for PUAFIR207 Operate breathing apparatus open circuit and PUAEQU001 Prepare, maintain and test response equipment.  Students will be required to provide evidence of holding the required pre-requisite, prior to enrolling in any of the two units, as it is not included in the qualification structure.

The enrolment period for the RII30719 Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue is 12 months, ensuring students have ample time to complete all requirements. 

However, individuals with prior industry experience, relevant qualifications, or significant practical knowledge may complete the course in a shorter timeframe by leveraging Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer (CT) for applicable units of competency.

This flexible approach acknowledges the expertise of experienced professionals, allowing them to streamline their learning journey without compromising the program's quality or rigour. Adjustments to the enrolment period are tailored to each student's background and progress. This flexibility ensures the qualification aligns with individual circumstances while maintaining compliance with training standards and supporting industry-ready outcomes.

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid

  • Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
  • Complete a first aid incident report form based on the adult CPR simulated first aid scenario
  • Perform CPR on an infant
  • Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis
  • Manage a casualty with asthma
  • Manage a choking casualty
  • Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning
  • Manage a casualty with a nosebleed
  • Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation
  • Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain
  • Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)
  • Simulated First Aid Scenario - Manage a casualty with a life-threatening bleed
  • Complete a first aid incident report form based on the life-threatening bleed first aid scenario

Respond to two (2) simulated scenarios to undertake confined space rescues, demonstrating:

  • Assessing and determining the consequences and likelihood of potential risk
  • Controlling risk by selecting and implementing the most appropriate controls
  • Completing reports and records about the risk assessment and treatment implementation

Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of short-answer and multiple-choice questions.
